Environmental Values
The expanded polystyrene core (EPS) of Burton panels possesses the properties designated under Australian Standard 1366, Part 3-1992, and possesses no fluorocarbon.
According to the EPS Industry Alliance, “EPS insulation can return up to 200 times the amount of energy required to produce it, and reduce emissions by up to 100 times the volume produced during the manufacturing process.”
Thus, by using EPS technology, we are committed to upholding our goal of superior construction quality, while helping reducing global warming by making a restorative contribution.
Recyclability
The COLORBOND® Intramax® steel skins of all our insulated panels are 100% recyclable and have been made by BlueScope®steel. The EPS cores are reusable and also 100% recyclable The EPS manufacturing process, unlike many synthetic materials, does not involve the use of ozone-layer-depleting CFCs and HCFCs, nor are there harmful materials present in the finished product. Burton Industries actively recycles collected EPS and compresses it ready for conversion to applications such as synthetic timber, stationery products, plant pots and coat hangers
Resuseability
The insulated sandwich panels are installed by a combination of rivets and adhesives; and can be easily dissembled to be reused and reconstructed for other applications. The mastic and or silicone sealant that hold the panels together can be easily removed, whilst the rivets which fix the panels to the steel supports and flashings can be unfastened and panels removed and reused on other building sites.
